Our Project Advanced Soft Robots: Data-Driven Development, Modeling and Control (UIP-2025-02-1541) Has Just Launched!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our project, (Advanced Soft Robots: Data-Driven Development, Modeling and Control (UIP-2025-02-1541)), funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.

Project objectives

  • O1. Clinical requirements: Investigate patient needs and clinical requirements influencing the development of soft biomechatronic rehabilitation devices through collaboration with medical experts.
  • O2. sEMG feature extraction: Establish data processing methodologies for extracting surface electromyography (sEMG) features enabling grip force forecasting.
  • O3. Koopman-based forecasting: Develop data-driven Koopman-based methodologies for grip force forecasting.
  • O4. Soft device prerequisites: Investigate prerequisites for pneumatically driven soft biomechatronic devices in rehabilitation robotics, including kinematic analyses, material selection, characterization and modeling, and device design.
  • O5. Data-driven control: Formulate data-driven controllers for soft rehabilitation robots using Koopman operator theory to enable adaptive and personalized rehabilitation strategies.
  • O6. Prototype validation: Develop and experimentally validate a proof-of-concept soft robotic rehabilitation prototype.
